Peer Support
Beacon Light Behavioral Health System is looking for a Part-time Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery oriented peer support services. The specialist will establish a trusting, respectful relationship with peers through the sharing of life experiences with mental illness or the mental health system. The primary responsibility of a peer specialist is to assist individuals identify and achieve their recovery goals, identify strengths and barriers in their mental health recovery, assist in developing recovery strategies and tools, and providing link to community resources. Peer Support is a program that provides individualized recovery-focused intervention to adults to enhance development of natural supports, coping mechanisms and other skills necessary to function as independently and successfully as possible in the community.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an active driver's license and a DMV check that is clear. Position may require travel in the communities served or state of Pennsylvania for position requirements 25-50% of the time.
About Us
The phrase Beacon Light actually refers to two distinct companies:
Beacon Light Behavioral Health System (BLBHS) and Beacon Light Adult Residential Services (BLARS).
Together they provide mental health services to adults, children and families in both community-based and residential settings. Individually, BLARS primarily provides residential programs for adults, while BLBHS provides community-based and residential programs for children, as well as community-based programs for adults.
