Beacon Light Behavioral Health System (BLBHS), an affiliate of Journey Health System, was founded in the early 1900's to provide services to children abandoned or orphaned by the early oil and lumber industries. Throughout its history, the agency has provided quality care to young people. As the needs of our society changed, Beacon Light Behavioral Health System evolved into a private, not-for-profit social service agency providing quality, professional behavioral health and educational services to people of all ages across Pennsylvania.

    SUMMARY

    Responsible for providing additional support to the staff and leadership within the program. This individual assists in training new staff and in supporting the implementation of trauma informed principles and practices, including staff debriefing.     Beacon Light Behavioral Health System is looking for a Community and School Based (CSBBH) Worker/Behavioral Health Technician who is responsible to provide behavioral support to the child or adolescent and their family in specified areas of social, behavioral and emotional concern and needs that have been identified by the child/youth and family and addressed in the treatment plan. The required 450-hour internship that counts for course credit may be completed during their employment a CSBBH provider.

        SUMMARY

        Responsible to identify non-academic barriers to learning and in collaboration with families, to strategize for and/or refer identified students for assistance that will enhance their school success. As representatives of the community mental health systems, professionally trained liaisons provide consultation to teams and families regarding the need for referral to community-based assessment for the mental health problems. As Prevention Specialist this individual is responsible for the planning and implementation of prevention and intervention outreach activities in Warren and Forest Counties. This involves assisting with data collection and program development/implementation in order to minimize the abuse of drugs and alcohol. Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures but the employee is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in discharging duties. The Prevention Specialist assists with the planning, conducting and facilitation of education and information programs concerning the identification of chemical abuse behavior. Through utilization of various media techniques, drug and alcohol education information is effectively disseminated throughout the community. This individual provides instruction to school students in coping skills, decision making, self-concept and self-esteem in order to improve their ability to function and relate to others. The Prevention Specialist is to provide support sessions and group sessions for students on an as needed basis, and assists them in accessing D&A services and recreational activities or other community resources in order to address identified needs.

        SUMMARY

        Responsible for teaching one or more core content or elective subjects for students that may range in grades k-12 as assigned and certified. Teachers may use creativity, humor and imagination to develop schemes of work and to plan lessons in order to foster a healthy culture of learning within the classroom and to generate the most effective interactions with students.

        The special education teacher is responsible for providing accommodations to students who function on an IEP. When a student’s IEP is due, the special education teacher is the teacher of record for a caseload of students. Caseload numbers will depend on the disability of the students.

        Teachers encourage, monitor and record the progress of individual pupils, and devise and tailor resources accordingly. They must also keep up to date with developments in their subject area, new resources, methods and national and state objectives/standards.

        EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

        • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
        • Pennsylvania Certification in Special Education in required area/level
        • Core Content Pennsylvania Certification preferred
